Health psychologist Peter la Cour, cand. psych. , Ph.D. and adjunct professor is behind a new Danish research article on the medical and social conditions of the most seriously ill and bedridden ME patients in Denmark.
“Most countries have reflected the new scientific evidence in their national guidelines, which recognizes ME as a serious and biological disease. ”
However, according to the article, the situation for ME patients in Denmark is unique, as the health authorities advise using the WHO diagnosis for ME, and instead use the broad concept of ‘functional illness: general/fatigue’ which is a psychological diagnosis.
