Liegend Demo (laying down-demonstration) is a German grassroots initiative with very high impact, similar to the shoe actions of Millions Missing. Actually it compises two kinds of action: the laying down-action (#LiegendDemo) and the Mourning procession (#Trauergang).
For now, Liegend Demo has only a twitter account, which contains short reports of actions performed and calls for future ones, as well as a description of their guidelines:
“We fight for and we include all people who have ME/CFS. No matter what the cause of their ME/CFS is! This includes viruses e.g. EBV, corona, H5N1, norovirus, bacteria e.g. borrelia, Vaccinations e.g. hepatitis, corona, trauma, CCI, chemicals and medication e.g. fluoroquinolones.
We draw attention to the disease by calmly, determinedly, carefully, in muted colors, going a mourning procession while presenting our statements.
We lie demonstratively on the floor and hold up our self-designed, personal posters with our messages – posters provided by the Initiative-Liegenddemo or by those who are not healed. In this way, we symbolize the people who cannot leave their homes and/or beds.
Banners must always be agreed upon by us, as we have to register them with the police. Vests outside of our steward vests will not be tolerated.
We are friendly but firm, reserved and quiet, also out of consideration for the participants who are themselves affected by ME/CFS.
Anyone who adheres to our guidelines can join us.”

The planning for 11.05.24 is in full swing. The wishes are big, the forces are small. That’s why we need lots of people to share the work. There are people in all our groups who would like to organize something in their city, like

Recent actions
Recently, on Saturday 23rd March there were Mourning Processions in Ulm, Düsseldorf and Wiesbaden, concluded with laying down demonstrations.
Not unfrequently a Mourning Procession is being concluded with a laying down demonstration.
